VENEZUELA AND THE SENTENCE OF THE IACHR

We hope that our President Juan Manuel Santos and the chancellor Maria Ángela Holguin wont mistake in the appreciation in the meaning of the Inter American Court of Human Rights that orders the habilitation of the Venezuelan opposition member Leopoldo López in order to participate in the presidential elections programmed for October 7th of 2012.

The sentence of the Court is a true fire test about the appliance of the Democratic Chart of the American States Organization and the lack of knowledge about it implies never the less, the determination of the self ending of the American organization.

It must be remembered that Leopoldo Lopez, ex- Mayor of Chacao, was politically disqualified by a maneuver of the Hugo Chavez government against the opposition leader, as a matter of fact the “Contraloria” of Venezuela disabled Lopez in august of 2008 for the public employment for two cases of alleged misuse of resources: one in 1996 with the oil company PDVSA and the other one with the mayoralty of Chacao in 2004. “Never a penal court condemned me, I wasn’t led to a justice court, that is a requirement of the Constitution for the political disablement”, pointed the leader of the opposition.

In front of the sentence of the Court the Venezuelan government answered with its traditional cynicism and prepotency “What value may that court have? There is more value on a haircut. On October 7th of 2012 a hurricane will pass, the elections hurricane, the peoples hurricane”, said Chavez by referring to the Inter American court.

That reaction didn’t surprised Lopez, who was convinced on the political disablement as a tool for discrimination and elimination of a possible political potential. Leopoldo Lopez accumulated a high popularity in front of the Mayoralty of Chacao, in which he arrived with just 27 years old and in which he was reelected four years later with 60% of the votes. “More than 500 persons have been disabled, with an aggravating: It’s a measure that implies fundamentally to the ones that have been in the opposition, an 80% of the opposition cases, when the 95% of the charges of State have been in hands of the official position. I was disabled when I had the 60% for winning the mayoralty in Caracas, ¿coincidence?” he comments.

If the Venezuelan government decides to ignore the sentence of the Court, we hope that our government shows the same decision of organizing with the countries of the continent in order to condemn the antidemocratic position of the Chavez regime that showed to present a political strike in Ecuador as an attempt for unknowing the democratic principles, in order to ingratiate with Rafael Correa.

There must be remembered also that the government of Hugo Chavez has ran over the principles pointed in the Inter American Democratic Chart adopted by several countries of the Organization of the American States on 2001, with occasion of the 28th extraordinary period of sessions made in Lima, Peru. That the political opposition of the Chavez Government in Venezuela has been pursued and hounded in different ways and several of their most prominent leaders are in jail, as the case of Alejandro Peña Esclusa, obliged to be at the exile or disabled for political action, through the rude manipulation of the executive in the judicial power decisions or other control organisms.

The chavist impunity is so absurd, as the unexplainable words of Juan Manuel Santos by considering the tyrant as an equilibrium element in the national policy of Venezuela and the continent, while having hard words condemning the political strike in Ecuador and didn’t hesitate on calling on UNASUR for throwing down the salary aspirations and better life conditions of the policemen by qualifying them as an attempt of strike against Rafael Correa.

Are uncountable the cases in which Hugo Chavez has violated the Inter American Chart for silencing and isolating who rises his voice in order to protest over the way in which he is driving Venezuela to the abysm, but the democratic governments of the continent express their unconformities towards that, on the contrary they have been accomplices bought by the petro dollars or calmed down by the aggressive speech of the dictator. The continent has failed on the Venezuelan people in its fight for the democratic freedom.

The OAE, in hands of the international communism, has been inferior on its task and allowed the impunity of the Venezuelan regime, not only in the outrage to the intern democracy but on becoming a sanctuary for the narcoguerrillas. From there that there is tolerance on the appearance of the parallel organisms as UNASUR for dividing America from the Marxist conception of a new continental order born from the Sao Paulo´s Forum, in which in a joyful way they are driving us to the current Colombian government.
